Caring for Solid Teak

Country Casual Teak furniture is crafted from solid Grade A teak (Tectona grandis), a durable hardwood that performs beautifully outdoors in any climate. Its high oil and rubber content forms natural barriers against the elements, giving teak weatherproof qualities without sealers, finishes or oils.

Its dense straight grain keeps timbers stable without warping, twisting, or splintering making it the material of choice in the marine industry for ships and luxury vessels. Our strict standards in selection and kiln drying and our expertise in mortise and tenon joinery ensure Country Casual Teak furnishings will last a lifetime. See our Ecological Statement for more details.

Natural teak varies widely in color from blond to rich patterns of amber and brown. Outdoors and untreated, teak will weather over time to silvery gray. Teak requires no preservatives. Country Casual Teak offers a variety of care and treatment products for other aesthetic options. See our Teak Care Guide for more details.

Who should use Country Casual Teak Golden Sealer?

Golden Sealer teak sealer is the ideal product for anyone trying to maintain the golden blonde color of new teak wood. Teak sealer was designed by Country Casual Teak primarily for use with teak outdoor furniture, and prevents furniture left outdoors from weathering to a silver / gray color.

How much should I use?

For new teak, use 1 liter to cover two coats on a mid-size dining table and chair set; choose 3 liters for larger jobs. An initial two-coat application and a single re-coat of the teak sealer on dry furniture at yearly intervals will preserve the new-teak color (some climates may require more frequent applications). With an indefinite shelf life, leftover Golden Sealer can be used for future applications.

What if my furniture isn't new?

Country Casual Teak offers a full range of products to make caring for your teak furniture as simple and easy as possible. To refurbish weathered teak, first clean furniture with Teak Cleaner and then apply Golden Sealer. Weathered teak will require more Golden Sealer than new teak.

How do I apply Teak Sealer?

Teak sealer can be applied to new or newly cleaned teak with a rag or application brush. Country Casual Teak also offers a Utility Kit which can be used to apply any of our teak care products. Before applying Golden Sealer to new teak, we recommend that the teak first be cleaned with Country Casual Teak Cleaner. This will help remove some of the natural oils of the wood and prepare the surface to accept the finish. It is important to allow teak to dry completely before sealing.
