The Project

The Before
The Before

The Tregaron Conservancy in Washington, D.C., is restoring its historic landscape in an effort guided by the estate’s original design. One of the estate’s “outdoor rooms” featured gardens and a bench designed by Ellen Biddle Shipman, who was the estate’s landscape architect over a century ago.

The Mock
The Process

Country Casual Teak worked closely with the Tregaron Conservancy to address its specific needs and create a custom bench design inspired by the original.

The After

The curved teak Lutyens bench is one-of-a-kind and has an expansive, 15 ft. long curved seat. The piece anchors the new Shipman Terrace, a tranquil spot for relaxing in the woodlands near the Tregaron Conservancy’s Lily Pond.
