Caring for Solid Teak
Country Casual Teak furniture is crafted from solid Grade A teak (Tectona grandis), a durable hardwood that performs beautifully outdoors in any climate. Its high oil and rubber content forms natural barriers against the elements, giving teak weatherproof qualities without sealers, finishes or oils.
Its dense straight grain keeps timbers stable without warping, twisting, or splintering making it the material of choice in the marine industry for ships and luxury vessels. Our strict standards in selection and kiln drying and our expertise in mortise and tenon joinery ensure Country Casual Teak furnishings will last a lifetime. See our Ecological Statement for more details.
Natural teak varies widely in color from blond to rich patterns of amber and brown. Outdoors and untreated, teak will weather over time to silvery gray. Teak requires no preservatives. Country Casual Teak offers a variety of care and treatment products for other aesthetic options. See our Teak Care Guide for more details.

Who should use Clear Coat Gloss?
Teak Clear Coat Gloss is ideal for adding a darker, glossy finish to treated or sealed teak furniture to provide added protection against water marks and other stains. Country Casual Teak designed Clear Coat Gloss to be used with teak furniture, specifically on teak tabletops used for dining and teak lounge furniture as it prevents stains caused by food and drink.
Clear Coat Gloss should be applied to furniture that has been treated with Golden Sealer teak sealer. To protect untreated or unsealed furniture against water and stains, use Teak Water & Stain Guard.
Â
How much should I use?
Use 1 quart for two thin coats on a mid-size dining table and chair set; choose 1 gallon for larger jobs. For best results, reapply when droplets of water fail to bead-up on the surface.
Â
How do I apply Clear Coat Gloss?
Teak Clear Coat Gloss should only be applied as a top coat over thoroughly dry Golden Sealer with a brush. Clean brush with mineral spirits. Country Casual Teak also offers a Utility Kit which can be used to apply any of our teak care products.
